  • An RCC (Registered Clinical Counsellor) is certified by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and is recognized in British Columbia.

    A CCC (Canadian Certified Counsellor) is certified by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and is recognized across Canada.

    Both require a master’s degree, clinical training, and ongoing professional development. The main difference is the organization that grants the certification and where it's recognized.

  • The assurance of confidentiality is essential in order for counselling to be effective. Throughout the counselling relationship all of your personal information will be kept confidential. This confidentiality continues beyond the end of the counselling relationship as well.

    That being said, there are a few legal and ethical limits to confidentiality that are important to be aware of. Exceptions to the rule of counsellor confidentiality include:

    * If you disclose abuse (sexual and/or physical), or neglect by a specific person, the abuse must be reported. If you disclose abuse (sexual and/or physical) by a specific person who has access to people under the age of 19, the abuse must be reported

    * If there is a serious possibility that you may harm yourself or others, or serious crime is believed to be intended, we must take reasonable action, which may include contacting the police or other responsible authorities.

    * In the highly unlikely event of a subpoena to testify in court.

  • Feeling nervous is completely normal. Counselling is a safe, non-judgmental space. You can share at your own pace, and I’ll support you in feeling comfortable and understood.

  • Counselling can help anyone looking to better understand their thoughts, feelings, and relationships, or navigate life challenges. If you’re unsure, a free 15-minute phone consultation can help you decide if it’s a good fit.

  • The first session is about getting to know you, your goals, and what support would be most helpful. We’ll talk about confidentiality, the counselling process, and answer any questions you have.

  • The number of counseling sessions required varies for each individual, depending on their unique needs and circumstances. There is no definitive answer, as this depends on several factors, including the reasons for seeking counseling, the duration of the challenges faced, and personal history.

    Some individuals may experience relief after a single session, while others may benefit from 5 to 10 sessions or more. Ultimately, the duration of counseling is guided by the individual's goals and their readiness to address their specific concerns.

  • Frequency depends on your needs and availability. Many clients start with weekly sessions, and we can adjust as progress is made.

  • Creating a safe and supportive environment is a top priority for me, and I welcome the opportunity to assist with the concerns you may be facing. However, I recognize that no single professional can specialize in every area. If your needs would be better addressed by someone with expertise in a particular field, we can explore potential referrals or collaborative approaches to ensure you receive the most effective support tailored to your specific needs.

  • I use a client-centered, trauma-informed approach, integrating techniques like CBT, mindfulness, EMDR, somatic therapy, and attachment-informed practices, tailored to your unique needs.

  • Yes. I support clients with a variety of challenges including anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, and emotional support around fertility and unexpected childlessness.

  • Yes. I provide in-person sessions in Coquitlam, as well as online and telephone counselling, to make support accessible and convenient.

  • I specialize in working with individuals aged 18 and older. My expertise is focused on this age group, and I believe it is essential for those under 18 to receive care from counselors who are specifically trained to work with children and adolescents to ensure they receive the most effective support.

    You can find counselors who specialize in working with this age group by utilizing search platforms such as Psychology Today, Counselling BC, or BCACC. Be sure to refine your search criteria to focus on professionals experienced in supporting children and youth.

  • Some employee benefit insurance programs cover the costs associated with seeing a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). I always suggest to clients to check with your insurance company and group plan as eligibility may vary depending on who your provider is.

  • I accept payment by cash, cheque, e-transfer or VISA and Mastercard.

  • All cancellations or rescheduling requires 24 hours notice. Full fee of $170 for 50 minute sessions and $260 for 80 minute sessions will apply for any cancellations or rescheduling that are given less than 24 hours notice.
